Mountain Beauty

"The clearest way into the universe is through two pine trees."  John Muir's quotes stir my heart.  They express truth to me in an inspirational way that makes me want to smell the grass and feel the wind on my face.  I pray that God would put this desire to experience nature and beauty in the hearts of many today....to get away from technology, gas fumes, clocks and schedules and go up on the mountains and worship. 

Catching the Rays

In the early morning  and late afternoon , mystical light envelops the trees and reflects from the mountains.  Catching the perfect rays of sunlight is a game for me as I take hundred of photos just to find the perfect one to paint. 

Wonder

The sensory wonder of a sunset or sunrise  over the ocean or in the mountains is a great moment of  thankfulness for and anticipation of another day on this earth.  Natural beauty testifies to the Nature of God.  It shows "the Way";  it draws one into the Divine Presence of Light and Life.  The Constancy, the Faithfulness. and the Glory of God are manifested as the "Son" is magnified to His Creation,  if only we would stop long enough to sense the wonder of the moment.  This painting was sold before it was finished.  Thank you Karen for your appreciation of my work.

 Before I paint, I gesso my canvas with bright red gesso in order to get a contrast to the green of most landscapes.  Light coming through Red Leaves and Red Reflections on Abbott Lake spark the creative instinct.  I have to tone down many paintings because of my love of red.
