When Seasons Collide

Frequently, in Virginia seasons collide.  However, I have never had a commission for a painting that represents all 4 seasons.  This was a bit of a challenge but starting at bottom right... summer is represented by the flat bottom boat turned upside down in the green weeds.  Fall continues up the painting in the orange trees;  winter is at the top of the hill in the snow around the house and spring is blooming at the bottom right in the butterfly bush.  Thanks, Aaron, for the commission.  You truly have an original painting!!

The Journey of Life is about moving toward the Light and Walking the Path that God has called us to.  I love thinking about big ideas and have many philosophical moments when hiking the Parkway trails.  These two paintings capture the essence of that journey.

 

It's Always about the Light

This is a painting I did after seeing a Jed Dorsey video.  I love life long learning and I am always interested in how others accomplish their magic on canvas.  This "sun burst" technique is fun and creates an incredible glow in the background.  It's always about the Light!!!

I do not usually post student work on my blog but I am so proud of my kids.  I am continuing to teach in my home studio and my students, some of whom I have taught for 8 years, are accomplishing phenomenal work!  With dedication to learning skills, it is amazing what they can accomplish.  My new adventure is to begin online drawing and painting courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced students.  Starting at around age 10, children are ready to move on from drawing symbols to learning how to draw and paint realistically.  Please check out my website for more information about these classes.      https://www.onlineartforkids.art
