An Unfailing Stream

The prophet Amos said "Let Justice flow like a river and Righteousness like an unfailing stream. 5:24 An unfailing stream has a source of water that is deep and never ending. It flows into a river and the river flows into an ocean. I love the metaphors of the Bible. Truth is explained so clearly for those who seek it. Justice and Righteouness come from the Source of Living Water which is God. And He never fails!!! Truth, Goodness and Beauty flow from the throne in Heaven, the source of our Living Water!

"Living Water" Series

After painting and posting online over 500 paintings of the Blue Ridge Parkway, I am beginning a new series called "Livng Water". The inspiration for this began after reading an old book, The Message of Water by a Japanese researcher, Emoto, and my desire to bring honor to the Creator of Water and Earth and Sky. Looking closely at God's masterworks of sunlight and nature, focusing on water, its sound, reflections, movement and smell are my goals. I want to get the senses involved, not just sight but sound and smell. Some of my new paintings are on display at Black Dog Salvage. I have paintings at the Peaks of Otter Lodge, and a show at the Grandin Theater in November. And my studio is open by appointment. Treatise on why I create

An artist, musician, craftsman, theatrical director, performer, all know that the human heart longs for truth, goodness, and beauty. If we can create that sense of longing, we capture our audience in the creative experience. In Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, Frank creates a magical story about longing for home. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is a plea by a young girl to find that place of rest, a home in which to feel safe. St. Augustine said "our hearts are restless until we find our rest in God". Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer, expressed his faith through his music. He sat before a painting of Jesus every day and prayed for an hour before beginning his day. His composition "The Mission" transports the listener to another place, another time, another dimension of reality - an eternal home- a celebration of beauty. My goal in painting is to draw the viewer into a higher sense of reality and to feel that sense of longing and to hopefully realize that longing is ultimately for the eternal home, Heaven.
