Finding Peace

There is so much Spiritual Energy found in Nature, Energy not only for strength and endurance but also for peace - finding peace outside and inside yourself. My prayer with each painting is for the Spirit of the work to pervade the canvas and be translated to those who view it.

Janet, I don’t know if you will ever see this but I have been looking at all your blogs from now on July 2026 until this in 2010. I am completely blown away by your gifts of expression, both artistically and verbally, and the complete variety of subject matter—not just LS paintings but architecture, varieties of flora and trees, shadows, reflections, people in motion, and compositions of infinite variety. You clearly are a true ARTIST with a soul of vision and love of Gods creation. I’m so glad your have LIVED WHAT YOU WERE MADE FOR ❤️❤️❤️😇😇😇

"Living Water" Series

After painting and posting online over 500 paintings of the Blue Ridge Parkway, I am beginning a new series called "Livng Water". The inspiration for this began after reading an old book, The Message of Water by a Japanese researcher, Emoto, and my desire to bring honor to the Creator of Water and Earth and Sky. Looking closely at God's masterworks of sunlight and nature, focusing on water, its sound, reflections, movement and smell are my goals. I want to get the senses involved, not just sight but sound and smell. Some of my new paintings are on display at Black Dog Salvage. I will soon have paintings at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. Treatise on why I create

An artist, musician, craftsman, theatrical director, performer, all know that the human heart longs for truth, goodness, and beauty. If we can create that sense of longing, we capture our audience in the creative experience. In Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, Frank creates a magical story about longing for home. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is a plea by a young girl to find that place of rest, a home in which to feel safe. St. Augustine said "our hearts are restless until we find our rest in God". Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer, expressed his faith through his music. He sat before a painting of Jesus every day and prayed for an hour before beginning his day. His composition "The Mission" transports the listener to another place, another time, another dimension of reality - an eternal home- a celebration of beauty. My goal in painting is to draw the viewer into a higher sense of reality and to feel that sense of longing and to hopefully realize that longing is ultimately for the eternal home, Heaven.
