Measureless Mountain Days

John Muir.   On a cold rainy day in February, it is comforting to look back on the glorious, warm sunshine and color of Fall and to look forward to the breezy pink blossoms of Spring.  Anxious to get outside to paint!!!!

Good Tidings

         The ancient mountains of the Blue Ridge are to me a symbol of stability, and strength and a witness to the hand of God in the affairs of men. I so agree with John Muir...when I need good tidings go to the mountains!!

Come and Sit a While with Me

"The sun shines not on us but in us.  The rivers flow not past us but through us,  thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our souls, making them sing"  John Muir.  Was it John Denver that sang the song with the words.... "come and sit a while with me"?   I love to sit in the open air and think about what makes us sing, what effects the world of nature has on us, what peace we find in contemplation, how sunshine makes us happy.  Ultimately, it is our Creator God who is in us, who rejoices in our love of His Creation, who flows through us as Living Water that makes us sing and know all is right with the world.

Looking Down is Looking Up

Monet painted the reflections in his Lily Pad Pond many, many times;.... I love the reflections in Abbott Lake around the little island.  Looking down into the water mirrors the trees and sky above.  Love the analogy of  looking at nature to see God!! This is why I paint!
