Parkway Series #406 12 x 16 oil Sold
This is the finished demo for a day spent with the Bald Knob artists in Rocky Mount. Thank you to all for your encouragement. It was great fun and I'm glad the painting turned out as well as it did. I never know when I am painting and talking at the same time what will happen!

Eternal Nature
Parkway Series #405 24 x 36 oil Sold
"It's my sense that these long-enduring mountains are like magnets to that unseen part of ourselves. We recognize in them something of our ancient, eternal nature - far more vast, deep and high than the passing identities and roles we maintain in Flatland." Liza Field

Fallingwater Cascades
Parkway Series #403 18 x 24 oil SOLD
This is a remake of #200 in the Series. I am now going back and painting some of my favorites in larger sizes. I remember this hike to Fallingwater Cascades vividly. This is at the very bottom of the waterfall as you walk over the bridge and head back up the hill. It was a very hot and humid day in August. I love the hike but I will never do it again in August, not because of the weather, but because of the snakes!

Blue Ridge Marathon 2013
Parkway Series #402 12 x 24 oil Donated to the Blue Ridge Parkway
I knew painting #394 needed something else but not until I talked with Pete Eshelman did I realize that it was destined to be the new "marathon" painting. I took some of his photos from last year and added the runners and came up with painting #402! Sometimes it is amazing how paintings take on a life of their own!

Connection
Parkway Series #401 12 x 24 oil SOLD
This is a commissioned painting of rolling hills around a treasured homeplace. There are many who have their roots deeply in the land on which we live. The vistas of Spring in the mountains, the smells of apple blossoms or wet grass, the memories of walking over the rolling hills, of planting gardens, of sweat and even of tears can, in a small sense, be captured by artists who also have a deep connection to the land.

Artistic License at Otter Creek
Parkway Series #399 12 x 16 oil $150.
It is snowing! With the Parkway closed, I decided to paint snow scenes from photos taken last summer. This is an image of Otter Creek with snow and ice superimposed over the greens of summer! Actually I really enjoy the creativity of making up the season and only using the photo for the basic idea and composition. After painting 400 parkway scenes, I am now adding artistic license to my repertoire!
